Abstract
Solar panels are critical to future electricity generation, particularly as we transition from conventional to sustainable methods. While engineering applications can help address the disadvantages of solar panels in designing future power systems, managing grid operations during solar eclipses remains a challenge. During an eclipse, the obscuration of the sun reduces photovoltaic power generation. In this study, we analyze low-and high-resolution generation data from multiple panels to investigate production variance during a partial solar eclipse in Turkey in 2022. Our analysis provides insights into the impact of the next solar eclipse in 2027 and outlines necessary preparation steps. These findings can help address the challenge of managing grid operations during solar eclipses, which is critical for the successful integration of solar energy into the power grid.
