What is eResearch@Ozyegin?
eResearch@Ozyegin is an institutional open-access repository. It aims to collect and make Ozyegin University’s scientific output accessible online in order to increase the impact and the visibility of the institution.
What is open access?
Open Access is unrestricted, online access to peer-reviewed and published scholarly research. OA literature is free to access, including for those who do not have personal or institutional subscriptions to journals, and free from most copyright and licensing restrictions. What makes it possible is the internet and the consent of the author or copyright-holder.
What to find in eResearch@Ozyegin?
eResearch@Ozyegin covers Özyeğin University members’ scientific outputs such as articles, conference proceedings, books, book chapters, patents, as well as their reports, lectures, and presentations.
Do I have to deposit my publications open access in the archive?
As long as it doesn’t breach any copyright or license agreements, yes, you must put them as open access.
What are the benefits of eResearch@Ozyegin to a researcher?

Who can submit at eResearch@Ozyegin?
Ozyegin members can submit their scientific output to eResearch@Ozyegin by using their network username and password.
What are the digital formats recommended for eResearch@Ozyegin?
The recommended format for the sustainability of the repository is PDF. Word, Excel, PPT, and JPEG files can also easily be converted to PDF for archiving.
Are all of the publications submitted at eResearch@Ozyegin accessible to the public?
The accessibility of the publication can vary depending on the author’s permission, the funders’ and the publishers’ policies:
- Open Access: the publication is accessible to the public.
- Optional Access/Restricted Access: the document is not open access but can be requested directly from the author using the “request copy” button. The author decides whether to share it or not.
- Open Access with Embargo: the publication is not accessible for a limited time; it will be open access after this period. During the embargo, the document can still be requested through the “request copy” button.
Which version of my publication shall I deposit at eResearch@Ozyegin?
Postprint, especially the “postprint/publisher version,” is preferred for institutional repositories. Still, the version deposited depends on the publisher’s policy. A publication may have three versions:
- Preprint version: submitted text before peer review.
- Postprint author version: the accepted publication, after peer review and revisions.
- Publisher version: the published version as it appears in the publication.
Is my entry submitted to the eResearch@Ozyegin verified or moderated?
Yes, they are verified and moderated. Author’s entry is reviewed by the editor, who checks its metadata, adds necessary information, and verifies its copyright status.
When can I deposit my work?
You can deposit a preprint as soon as you submit the work to a publisher or conference. If allowed by the publisher, you can later update the submission with the postprint version.
Can I deposit publications in eResearch@Ozyegin that were published before I became a member of Özyeğin University?
Yes, you can.
What do I do if a publisher or a writer contacts me claiming copyright over a deposited work?
If this happens, immediately inform the eResearch@Ozyegin team.
Can I withdraw my document from the repository?
Only incomplete submissions can be deleted. However, you can request that files be removed or access restricted by contacting the eResearch@Ozyegin team.
What is copyright?
Copyright is a form of protection for intellectual works. An author automatically owns copyright once their work is created and expressed.
What is the transfer of rights?
Authors can transfer their rights through contracts. It’s important to retain rights for educational and research purposes.
If I’ve already signed a contract with the publisher, can I renegotiate clauses to deposit my publication in eResearch@Ozyegin?
Yes! It’s possible to renegotiate contract terms with publishers. The eResearch@Ozyegin team can provide support for this.
Can I deposit my conference papers online?
Yes, but consider any licensing agreements you have with the publisher or organizer.
Can I still own the author rights of my work, even if it’s deposited in eResearch@Ozyegin?
Yes, you retain copyright ownership of your work.
Who is responsible for ensuring a document deposited in eResearch@Ozyegin doesn’t breach co-author copyrights?
The submitter is responsible for ensuring that deposited work complies with copyright laws. Editors will also support by checking permissions.
How can I check that I do not breach any copyright by adding my publications in eResearch@Ozyegin?
Check your contract with the publisher or use SHERPA/RoMEO to find self-archiving policies.
I’ve contacted my publisher about their self-archiving policy but didn’t receive a response. What can I do?
Upload your document with restricted access to eResearch@Ozyegin. It is legal to share in this way, allowing readers to request a copy directly from you.
How do I stay informed about new titles added to eResearch@Ozyegin?
Log in and create alerts for collections you’re interested in.
Can I still access a document marked with a closed padlock? How do I request a copy?
For access-restricted documents, click on the padlock icon, fill out the form, and submit your request to the author.
