Abstract
In this work, influence of severe plastic deformation on the damping properties of commercial purity titanium is explored. Deformation induced grain refinement improved the strength at room temperature while this effect diminished at a high temperature of 600 degrees C. Ultrafine-grained titanium demonstrated higher damping capacity as rationalized with the enhanced contribution of increased defect density.
