Abstract
The most essential issue in designing residental spaces is answering the question of "What would be the contribution of cultural characteristics to home environment" since the home is a reflection of relationships between culture and environment. In this context, Traditional Turkish House appears as a very good example to explore these interactions; representing the direct result of physical environment and the culture of Turkish people. Therefore this paper aims at examining the linkages between space and culture in Traditional Turkish House and to exhibit the home environment as a cultural product. In the first chapter, the linkages between culture and home space are introduced and discussed in general sense to develop a systematic method for further examinations. In the second chapter the method developed in the first chapter is applied upon a case study held on a Traditional Turkish House to exhibit the interactions between space and the cultural factors. Conclusions and comments are given in the last chapter to verify the validity of the theoretical framework set by this paper
